Use, benefits and side-effects of Tadalafil
tablet
Tadalafil is available as a tablet you can take by
mouth. It works by relaxing the blood
vessels which in turn allows more blood to flow to a particular area of a body.
It is primarily used to treat two conditions in men: benign prostatic
hyperplasia (BPH) and erectile dysfunction (ED) also known as impotence. In
some cases and circumstances, this drug is also used to treat pulmonary
arterial hypertension (PAH).
Heart disease warning :
You need to stay away from this drug if you are suffering
from some pre-existing heart condition and your doctor has asked you not to
indulge in any type or form of sexual activity. Seek immediate medical
attention if symptoms such as dizziness, blurred vision, nausea, chest pain,
develop during sex. Sexual activity can put additional strain on your heart.
You need to be extra cautious if your heart is already weak from a heart attack
or heart disease.
Priapism warning :
Priapism is a condition where your erection will not go away.
Without appropriate treatment, you risk damaging your penis permanently which
means you will not be able to achieve an erection. Get quickly in touch with your doctor if your
erection refuses to subside for more than four hours.
Why it’s used
Tadalafil is used for the treatment of men who have benign
prostatic hyperplasia (BPH) or erectile dysfunction (ED), or both conditions.
BPH refers to a condition where the prostate gland is enlarged which results in
frequent urination, difficulty urinating, painful urination, etc.
With ED, the penis does not get enough supply of blood
leading to an inability to achieve an erection when the person is sexually
excited.
How the drug works?
Tadalafil works by relaxing the muscle in your prostate and
bladder. This enables more blood to flow the concerned part of the body.
